About Simon Kang
Born 1977, lives and works in Los Angeles, California
Originally from South Korea, Simon grew up in New York where he received a Bachelors in Fine Arts from School of Visual Arts (SVA) and Masters in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute.
Simon is currently working as a Sr. Product Designer & Product Developer at Munchkin, the world’s largest baby lifestyle brand based in Van Nuys, California. For the past 3 years, he has worked on 12+ new products and 12+ product improvements that have generated over $30 million in revenue.
From initial concepts through mass production, Simon leads projects from start to finish and manage all issues that impact design. He thrives working with a small team of Engineers, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Costing and various manufacturers as he is an analytical and goal oriented designer who values successful business results through well executed products.
For the past 13 years, he has consistently delivered successful product solutions for a broad range of clients such as Samsung, Acer, iLuv, Cisco, Vudu, Incase, and Munchkin. To name a few product accomplishments, he designed:
Cisco ‘Catalyst 2960-X’ series Gigabit Ethernet switches, generated over $1 billion in revenue.
Apple certified products sold at global Apple stores for Incase, generated over $33 million in revenue.
The archetype of ‘Samsung Galaxy Keyboard Cover' while working at Samsung’s Advance Design Team.
As a person with INTJ personality trait in MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator), he values original ideas through formidable logic, and he is motivated by analyzing a system and design creative ways to fix what is broken.
